Truth or Traditions - Xmas

                                 (Mt 7, 24-27, 16:17; Mk 7:9; Gen 10:9; Gen 20:2-5;

                   I Ki 18-40; Jer 10:1-3; De 12:29-31; Lev 23; Ph 1:6; Heb 2:5-11)

1)If you were back in Bible times, do you think that you would see
A fat bearded fellow dressed in red coming down through your chimney?
Lights and holly and mistletoe, gifts under the tree?
On a rainy, cold December night, how did these things come to be?
Do they come from the Bible, are they the things that God commands?
Or are the works of people worshipping gods of their own minds and hands?
Is your faith built on the rock or just on shifting sand?
Do you reject the word of God to keep traditions of the land?
Chorus:
If you worshiped a God of truth would you live and teach a lie?
Would you take the ways of false gods and to that God apply?
Would you talk of parties, gifts and trees

And forget about God's Word,
Or teach your children God's ways

And make sure it's Truth they've heard?
2)In ancient times the peoples worshiped a god of sun and flame -
Saturn, Nimrod, Molech, Baal - same god by a different name.
When the days grew short they feared the name would no longer burn.
They rejoiced and reveled mightily when they saw it would return.
What is God's opinion of this, has His Word made it plain?
Learn not the ways of the peoples for their customs are vain.
Don't fear the signs of heaven as the seasons wax and wane.
Don't serve me as they serve their gods for even their children they've slain.
(Chorus)
3)Now there is something better than these customs so absurd
We don't have to think them up for God reveals them in His Word.
Through His Holy Days God reveals a most marvelous plan
The way He's working now with us, the destiny of man.
(Chorus)
Let's teach the people God's ways and make sure it's Truth they've heard.
